How I got here
Hey, I'm Jay.
In early 2025 I spent about half a year at university in Alberta. Two classes gave me the basics of code, and honestly that was all it took, and I was hooked. I went straight to The Odin Project to keep learning on my own. This was back when AI still wasn't much good at writing code, so I learned the hard way: reading, trial, and a whole lot of error. I went from basic exercises to actually shipping live things: small web apps, Chrome extensions, anything I could build.
I took a swing at mobile apps and, real talk, I caved. It was a whole different world and the pressure of it got to me. But web development just clicked. That's my lane. I also fell down the CLI rabbit hole, and you can get seriously caught up in a terminal, trial-and-erroring your way through something until it finally works.
This year, code took over my life completely. I shipped JAYISAAC AI from the ground up. My first real product, start to finish. It was hours of frustration just getting the thing to function. I ship on Vercel, and those deploy logs can be brutal, but they're honest; they tell you exactly what you broke. Stripe's console was its own beast; I fought through test mode and finally flipped it live and watched a real payment land. Building AI features on the Claude API was tough too. None of it came easy, but I figured it out piece by piece, and it's live.
